Mauricio Baez outgunned San Lazaro in the championship series opener. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Mauricio Baez dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to San Lazaro's 22. They outrebounded San Lazaro 42-31 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized American guard Gerardo Suero (196-89, college: Albany) stepped up and scored 20 points and 5 assists for the winners and forward Juan Miguel Suero (196-93) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican swingman Justin Reyes (193-95, college: STAC) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Raphiael Putney (207-90, college: UMass) scored 14 points. Four San Lazaro players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
